Panasonic does not plan fix for reported black level increases

"Since the TV works as expected, there is nothing to repair."

This response comes from Bob Perry, vice president of Panasonic Consumer Electronics Company, in response to a question asked CNET monitoring in response to February 3 Society statement on the reports on plasma televisions society lose their deep black levels over time.

The statement argued that the black levels of the plasmas are designed to brighten the time ( "light background will increase from its initial value) to compensate for the normal aging process, but suggested that the quality of image is always "excellent" after the period of compensation was complete and "internal characteristics of the materials ... stabilize."

In a Feb. 5 telephone call with the CNET (also attended by editors from CNET and Bill Schindler, an independent consulting engineer for Panasonic), Perry confirmed that the company did not intend to lay everything on the level black complaints related to its plasma current. It echoes the explanation in the original statement and elaborated a bit on the higher black level. He compared it to rotate tires on Perry answered that there is nothing to correct it seems to contradict statements made by respected calibrator D-Nice, citing sources within Panasonic.In an e-mail to CNET, D-Nice wrote: "It seems that Panasonic Engineering goofed on some of their software that modifies the pixel voltage levels periodically. However, the software from Panasonic seems to go too far in this area. The end result is a black high idle that gets worse over the hours are clocked on the screen. I bought this computer for my HP 2005 vintage was littered with all types of software. Sensus and I like the idea of an all in one.
